Industry on Crum Creek
The Crum Creek Watershed was one of the first areas in the nation that became industrialized. In the early 1800’s, local landowner and industrialist Thomas Leiper built mills, quarries, and even the nation’s first functioning railway. Resources from the river and nearby woods were transported around the area to build up towns, while the creek powered local mills.
