The Benjamin West House
Benjamin West was a painter during the time of the American Revolution. He led the British Neoclassical movement, and was a founding member of the Royal Academy of the Arts. He was born in this house, at Visitor’s Center Road, in 1738. It was constructed twelve years earlier in 1724. The House was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974.
